Editing Guidelines for Horror Story Files

Editing Guidelines for Horror Story Files

Kowabanashi File is a website that serves as both a reading platform for enjoying ghost stories and an information site that deals with real-life locations and places. Our basic editorial principle is to avoid confusing verifiable facts, folklore/rumors, and reader submissions.

We will divide the information into three types.

  1. verifiable facts: Name, location, history, and usage/access information that can be confirmed from facility managers, local governments, government agencies, public archives, etc.
  2. Local rumors and legends: This information is based on what can be confirmed from books, newspapers, publicly available records, and local narratives. It does not assert that paranormal phenomena are factual.
  3. Reader submissions: This content is based on the personal experience of the contributor. We will edit it as necessary, respecting the contributor's consent and privacy.

Sources for each article

New articles and priority revised articles will include a "Verified Source" at the end of the article, listing the publisher, source name, URL, and verification date. Sources that cannot be officially verified will not be published, and content without sources will not be labeled as "actual experience" or "interviewed."

How rankings are handled

When publishing rankings, the scope and evaluation criteria will be clearly stated within the article. Articles with the same structure but different search keywords will not be created; articles with the same purpose will be merged.

Safety, legal requirements, and consideration for the local community

  • We do not recommend trespassing on private property, restricted areas, or sealed facilities.
  • Local notices, administrators, and the latest information from local authorities take precedence over this article.
  • When dealing with accidents, incidents, or suicides, we will not include sensational images or specific methods.
  • We will not publish defamatory remarks about facilities, communities, or individuals involved, nor will we post personal information that cannot be verified.

Use of AI

AI may be used for organizing text and creating images. Before publication, editors will review the content and ensure its safety, and AI-generated images will not be displayed as actual photographs.

Correction/Deletion

We will correct any errors, changes in closure/access information, or rights issues that we find.inquiryPlease provide the URL in question and any supporting documents.
